Encore Enterprises CIC/Herefordshire Music Service

Encore is a ‘not for profit’ Community Interest Company, mainly (but not exclusively) specialising in Music Education in Herefordshire. Currently we manage Herefordshire Music Service, which is the County Music Service. We have over 60 professionals delivering high quality services to over 3000 pupils every week. Encore Enterprises is the Lead Organisation for the Herefordshire Music Education Hub, the purpose of which is to provide ‘strategic vision’ to develop and enhance the musical education offer to all children and young people in Herefordshire and in particular to advise on the use of the Department for Education grant.

Activities for children & young people

  • Instrument hire: to pupils/students, schools, adults and other organisations.
  • Wider Opportunities: Whole class instrumental music lessons provided to schools
  • Singing Projects: including our annual ‘Sing Spring In’ initiative
  • Inspirational events: Pupils/students have opportunities to perform in prestigious venues and to work with professional musicians.
  • Our County youth music ensembles provide a variety of ensembles catering for all levels of ability including the Herefordshire Youth Orchestra and The Herefordshire Academy of Rock and Pop for those interested in rock and pop and other contemporary styles.
  • CPD: opportunities for school colleagues, Accredited Teachers and others including an annual School Music Conference

How we work with schools

  • Instrumental/vocal tuition: Our Accredited Teachers (peripatetic instrumental/vocal tutors) teach individual, paired and small group lessons.  Accredited Teachers can also provide other services such as class work or running ensembles.
  • Wider Opportunities: Delivered to pupils from reception to Year 9, pupils participate in weekly tuition on a musical instrument as a whole class.
  • Singing Projects: These include our annual ‘Sing Spring In’ initiative
  • Key Stages 1-5
